This team primarily focuses on environmental microbiology meta-genomics research and development of high-throughput technology, targeting dynamic changes of microbial populations, communities, phylogenetic evolution and functional variety due to the geographic difference, global environmental alterations, environmental pollution and treatment approaches. Using the high-throughput sequencing analysis and GeoChip technique, the microbial communities were studied on the compositions, structures and related functions, as well as the interaction of communities with the environmental niche. Furthermore, our team is specialized in Bio-Statistics and Bio-Informatics, devoting to the development of novel techniques and systems that are used to investigate the environmental microbial community and extract the phylogenetic information. Our team is also actively involved, as one of the core teams, in the design of GeoChip of multiple versions for uncovering the functional genes of microorganisms. Additionally, multiple systems for analyzing GeoChip information, 16S high-throughput sequencing data and molecular ecology, which have been broadly used domestic and abroad, have also been developed by this team.
