The Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES) co-hosted the International Symposium Microbiology in the Omics-Era on June 27-30th, 2014, in Southwest University. The purpose was to better connect the scientific researchers both domestic and abroad in this field of microbiology genomics to promote the research work in the uprising era of ‘-omics’. Young experts and talents from many different research groups on computational biology, synthetic biology and related fields invited by this symposium delivered insightful speeches sharing their experience and research achievements on microbiology ‘-omics’ studies (43 presentations, 7 key-note speeches and 36 plenary presentations). Academicians Prof. Deng Zixin and Zhao Guoping, as well as Zhao Liping, Zhou Jizhong, Ryland F. Young and other microbial scientists from the U.S. also attended this symposium.
On June 27th, Prof. Wang Aijie and Assistant Prof. Liu Wenzong from RCEES organized a workshop on scientific writing for the young scholars. This workshop focused on scientific writing and publishing research papers as well as training on common intellectual property issues for the young scientists and graduate students in this field. Young scholars actively participated the workshop and gave their positive feedbacks.
